Exotic Animals

While Dierenkliniek van der Wolf provides care to exotic owners, we need to warn owners that we do not accept unlicensed exotic animals. This is for the safety of our staff as well as for the safety of the patient. Furthermore, we will only see exotic pets that are legal for pet ownership.

While we understand the appeal of owning an exotic animal, there are rules and regulations in place that govern what animals are appropriate for ownership in a civilian setting. These laws are in place to protect both the animal and the population. If an unlicensed or illegal pet is brought into our clinic, we will be required by law to contact the proper authorities and surrender the animal; however, we also understand that sometimes owners have trouble locating their license. It can be a challenge for owners to jump through the hoops necessary to obtain this important document. There can be long wait times, unreliable pet stores, or issues with the mail service.

For owners that are having trouble finding their license, they should contact the breeder or the place they obtained the animal. These people should have a copy of the original license somewhere and the owner should simply request that a copy of the proof of sale be sent to the clinic. Using this information, our clinic can assist owners in retrieving the proper information regarding their loved one. We can also help owners with any licensing issues. These licenses are important because they provide important information that plays a key role in the diagnosis and treatment of our patients.

Because we would like to assist any sick or injured pets, we will take any steps necessary to help owners obtain their appropriate licensure. We understand that navigating the license system can be a challenge and we are here to help both the pets and their families. For any owners that would like more information on the licensure process, please contact our clinic. We would be happy to help anyone navigate the process of obtaining their license. Once this license is obtained, we would be happy to provide healthcare to any pet after the appropriate forms are filled out. Call us today for more information!
